I photographed Northport using a Widelux Camera. It’s “old school”, using a wide field lens. The 140 degree view plus the use of foreground, background and side relationship in one photograph is unobtainable with any other camera I know of. The result, as you can see, is unique. It cannot be replicated by Photoshop or any other computer program. In a society of perpetual change, which isn’t always for the better, an attempt was made to capture the old world charm of Northport, with which I have fallen in love. Jennifer Lau I started my career as a graphic designer 20 years ago (did I just say that out loud?) I started working with photography when I worked for Merrill Lynch and fell in love with the medium. I art directed many photo shoots with still life and models and was always intrigued by the process of balancing light and composition in a single frame. I didn’t try to do anything professionally with photography until my photo was chosen for the 2005 Gilroy Garlic Festival in California. After taking over 800 shots of bulbs of garlic, I knew I could do this kind of stuff every day. |
